Playmobil launches into the manufacture of masks for the general public
The famous German toy brand intends to produce a million soft plastic masks for young and old.
Since its creation in 1974, Playmobil has not lacked creativity in the making of new accessories to personalize its small plastic figures, to the delight of young and old. But today, the German toy brand has decided to equip humans.
New coronavirus requires, the firm will make masks for the general public to make a contribution to the edifice in the fight against the global pandemic, as revealed by our colleagues from Echoes this Thursday, April 30, 2020. The Brandstätter group, a major specialist in the plastic injection and which owns Playmobil, will manufacture flexible plastic masks, embellished with rubber straps. Three sizes will be available to suit both children and adults. The group says it is ready to produce a million.
"It is not a medical device"
Brandstätter can count on some experience in this area, having announced in March the development of protective masks for its staff. It is also thanks to the success encountered internally that the group decided to make masks for the general public, explains the economic daily. These will be drawn by designers, who will add the "legendary smile" of the figurines.
"This is not a medical device or filtering masks meeting FFP2 standards," however, insists the group, which ensures that its mask is easy to clean and therefore reusable. A filter must be added in order for the equipment to be functional. Ten filter sheets will be provided during the sale, which will allow a maximum wearing time of ten hours. Cost of the mask: 4.99 euros, including one euro donated to the Restos du Coeur.
